You can activate a SiriusXM (XM) satellite radio from home without calling customer care. The online activation process takes only a few minutes and works for most factory installed and aftermarket radios. This guide walks you through each step, from locating your Radio ID to receiving the activation signal on channel 1.

<Note>
  This is an independent guide and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SiriusXM. For official support, visit siriusxm.com or contact SiriusXM directly.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find your Radio ID">
    Turn your radio on and tune to **channel 0**. The screen should display an 8 to 12 character alphanumeric code. This is your Radio ID, also called the ESN or SID.

    If channel 0 does not show the ID, look for a label on the radio itself, check your vehicle's settings or audio menu, or look at the original packaging or purchase receipt.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to the official SiriusXM activation page">
    Visit **siriusxm.com** and look for the activation or "Activate" link. You can also use the official SiriusXM mobile app if you already have an account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your Radio ID and vehicle details">
    Enter the Radio ID exactly as it appears. You may also need to provide your vehicle make, model, and year, plus a valid email address and payment method if you are starting a new subscription.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a subscription plan">
    Browse the available plans and select the one that fits your listening needs. Pricing and plan names change from time to time, so check siriusxm.com for current options and \[current price].
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the activation signal on channel 1">
    After you complete the online process, SiriusXM sends an activation signal to your radio. Tune to **channel 1** or your favorite music channel and wait up to 15 minutes. Make sure your vehicle is outside with a clear view of the sky, because buildings and garages can block the satellite signal.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  If your radio does not activate after 15 minutes, you can request another signal refresh from the SiriusXM website. See our guide on refreshing your radio signal for detailed steps.
</Tip>

<Warning>
  Do not turn your radio off while waiting for the activation signal. The radio must be powered on and tuned to an active channel to receive the signal.
</Warning>
